The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is a supermini, now a small family car, produced by the German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. The first generation (W168) was introduced in 1997, the second generation model (W169) appeared in late 2004 & the all-new generation late model W176 launched in late 2012. Launched as a five-door hatchback in 1997, the second generation W169 introduced a three-door hatchback to sit six inches below the five-door. In the markets that the A-Class is or has been sold in, it has represented the entry level model of Mercedes-Benz.
The third generation of A-Class was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, and later in 2012 Paris Motor Show. Its shapes were applied on Concept A-Class at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show.
The vehicles were available in dealerships beginning in September 2012.
Mercedes Benz A-Class Design
Design of the new A-Class is more dynamic and focused on younger people compared with its predecessor, now designed to be a direct competitor to the BMW 1 Series and the Audi A3. The radically new design that first appeared on Concept A-Class at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, has changed only in details such as lights, bumpers and mirrors. The design of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class reflects the new Mercedes-Benz design strategy.
